About Me
My Story
Landscape photographer from Cheshire, UK.
Photography is an art
It’s about finding extra-ordinary
In an ordinary place
I’ve always been drawn to the moments that most people walk straight past.
The way a city changes as daylight fades. The glow of lights reflected on wet streets. A landscape just after sunset, when the colours become richer and the world suddenly feels a little quieter. For me, photography is about noticing those moments — and finding a way to make someone else stop and look too.
I’m Dan, a self-taught landscape and travel photographer based in Cheshire, in the North West of England. My background is in IT, but photography has been a passion for as long as I can remember. What started with curiosity and a camera has grown into a constant excuse to explore somewhere new, stay out a little later, and see what I can find.
I’m particularly drawn to low-light photography, cityscapes, landscapes and coastal scenes. There’s something about the hours around sunset and after dark that I love — when familiar places take on a completely different character and light, colour and atmosphere become just as important as the subject itself.
Travel is a huge part of that adventure. Whether I’m discovering a new city, chasing a sunset, wandering along the coast or exploring somewhere completely unfamiliar, I rarely know exactly what photograph I’m going to come home with. And that’s part of the fun.
I’m also a little obsessed with Disney, which has become one of my favourite places to photograph. I especially love capturing the parks after the crowds have gone, when the lights, colours and incredible attention to detail can really shine.
I’m entirely self-taught, having spent years learning through experimentation, plenty of mistakes, and far too many YouTube tutorials. Along the way, I’ve developed a style that is all about atmosphere, detail and telling a story through a single frame.
These days I shoot with my Canon R5 and a selection of Canon L lenses, but I’ve always believed that the most important part of photography isn’t the equipment — it’s being in the right place, at the right moment, and having the patience to see the photograph when it appears.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually spending time with my family, including my niece and nephew — two of my biggest little fans and very willing photography critics!
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to explore my work.
I hope you enjoy looking through my photographs as much as I’ve enjoyed being out there capturing them.
Dan
